We continue our series on the stages of plywood production. 👇

Stage 4. Veneer drying

After peeling and clipping, birch veneer still contains a large amount of moisture and is not suitable for further production. It must be thoroughly dried to ensure the strength and durability of the plywood.

Our plant uses a steam-heated roller dryer. It has multiple sections and levels through which veneer sheets move continuously on special rollers.

The temperature and material travel speed inside the dryer are carefully controlled. This allows the veneer to dry evenly while retaining its shape and dimensions.

Every sheet is checked at the outlet. We assess residual moisture and check for warping, cracks and other defects that could affect plywood quality.

At this stage, the wood acquires the properties needed for subsequent sorting, glue application and assembly into plywood sheets.

Next time, we will explain how dried veneer is sorted and prepared for assembly before gluing.
