| Log type | Birch veneer logs for peeling, grades 1 and 2. GOST 9462-2016. |
| Harvesting and storage | Storage after cross-cutting must not exceed two months. |
| Accepted length / length including allowance | 4.8 / 5.0 m; 3.2 / 3.4 m; 1.6 / 1.8 m. Defective sections are deducted in corresponding length increments. |
| Small-end diameter | At least 18 cm. Logs with a diameter of 18–20 cm must not exceed 10% of the batch. |
| Butt-end diameter | No more than 70 cm. |
| Knots and overgrown branches, excluding rotten knots | Diameter no more than 7 cm; no more than two per linear metre. |
| Rotten knots | Diameter no more than 4 cm. |
| Branch trimming | Branches must be cut flush with the surface of the unpeeled log. |
| Heartwood decay | Diameter no more than 4 cm. |
| Hollows | Not permitted. |
| Sapwood decay | Not permitted. |
| External soft rot, white pocket rot and fungal damage | Not permitted. |
| False heartwood and heartwood discolouration | Permitted up to one third of the diameter. |
| End checks | No more than one third of the corresponding end diameter. Depth must not exceed the specified length allowance. |
| Side cracks | Not permitted. |
| Bark stripping | No more than 15% of the total log surface area. |
| Ribbed or rounded butt swelling, root flare and growths | Not permitted. |
| Double pith and open or enclosed bark inclusions | Not permitted. |
| Single curvature — main table | At 20 cm diameter: no more than 1%; up to 24 cm: no more than 2% of billet length; over 26 cm: no more than 3%. The table does not specify the 24–26 cm interval. |
| Compound curvature — main table | No more than half the single-curvature allowance. |
| Mechanical damage and inclusions | Notches, saw cuts, chips, splits, torn grain, open or enclosed bark inclusions, dead sides, cankers, slanted cuts and mechanical inclusions are not permitted. |
